Hoyas are easy to grow plants! They’re prefer mid-levels of light or bright light, not direct sun (although need moderate light or some morning sun to flower well) and prefer to be kept in the same pot for years. Hoya are long-lived plants.
Water when the potting mix feels dry. Hoya do not like soggy feet and are prone to root rot. Use a freely draining potting mix. Fertilize once or twice a month with an organic fertilizer to avoid salt build up.
Most hoya varieties will grow very happily in quite small pots, and are particularly suited to growing in hanging baskets. Don’t prune off old flower spikes when they finish flowering, they may flower again on the same spike. Keep the leaves clean by wiping with a damp cloth, when required. Inspect the leaves regularly for pests.
