Spring is here and buds are emerging. Now is a great time to fertilize your trees, shrubs, and perennials.
For early spring we recommend applying slow-release granular fertilizers. These fertilizers only need to be applied once per season, so it will be all you need for good foliage and root growth in the spring and summer months.
What should I fertilize?
Most established plants can be fertilized in the spring, but not all need regular fertilizing.
We recommend fertilizing your evergreens and fruiting trees and shrubs yearly. These do best when fertilized before new growth emerges.
If your plant is freshly planted this spring, you do not need to fertilize for the first year. The compost you mixed in the backfill is enough nutrition for the first year.
If you suspect your plant is unhealthy and struggling, dumping on fertilizer is not always the answer. WAIT to fertilize and get in touch with us. Our experts can help diagnose your plant and recommend the best treatment.
