Most plants we have at the nursery, can be planted now. Follow our planting instructions and even though your soil may be moist, you still need to water thoroughly when planting. Watering new planting not only provides needed moisture for new growth, it also removed big air pockets. Roots need air, but the air between soil particles in enough.
It is a little early to fertilize established gardens. Granular, slow-release fertilizer can be applied in a couple of weeks. Liquid fertilizer, because it can be taken up by the roots quickly, should not be applied until the end of May. You don’t want to encourage new growth that could be damaged by a late frost.
